SDSL/Broadband
As the boundaries of Internet applications push ever outward, businesses need more and more bandwidth to benefit from new capabilities. Naturally, you want to empower your staff and make them more effective. Whilst technologies like video conferencing, Voice over IP (VoIP) and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) can do that, the cost of leased lines may seem excessive. Areti's SDSL offers a midway solution to stepping up your performance. Symmetric Digital Subscriber Lines increase your upload bandwidth and also offer better contention ratios for radically improved overall performance.
Benefits
| Maximum speed |
|
|
With SDSL your upload bandwidth, or speed, is the same as your download speed. That means you will be able to support more demanding applications like video conferencing that use significant bandwidth
in both directions. Areti offers a choice of three speeds of SDSL, 512 Kbps, 1Mbps and 2Mbps, to match your requirements.
| Service |
Speed |
| SDSL 500 |

| SDSL 1000 |
1 Mbps |
| SDSL 2000 |
2 Mbps |
|
| Contention ratio |
|
SDSL lines, like ADSL lines, are shared among
a number of users in a local area. This permits maximum efficiency from the lines, because most uses demand short bursts of capacity. However the contention ratios are half of those of ADSL, providing significantly better overall performance. With Areti's SDSL you get a contention ration of 10:1 as well as 8 IP addresses. |
| Service Level Agreement |
|
At Areti we back up our confidence in the
reliability of our services with a Service Level Agreement, or SLA. This set out in writing the commitments we undertake to deliver. We can even offer tailored levels of service to match your own specific business requirements. |
| Enhanced Care |
|
If your business is highly dependent on
Internet connectivity we offer enhanced levels of service. With our Enhanced Care package, for example, we guarantee a response time of less than 3 hours, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so you can be certain that help is on the way whenever you need it. |
| Distance limitations |
|
For major urban centres SDSL is usually
readily available. However, there are limitations. The key measure is the distance between your site and your local exchange.
The table below shows the maximum estimated distance each service can reach from your site.
| Service |
Limit |
| SDSL 500 |
3.4 km |
| SDSL 1000 |
2.5 km |
| SDSL 2000 |
1.6 km |
|
| Installation |
|
Unlike ADSL, you don't need to have an
existing landline to order the service. A new line will be installed as a standard part of the SDSL service. |
